Kilmahog to Brig O’Turk return
6 Dots met at the Bochastle Car Park and set off to Brig O’Turk on a beautiful spring morning. Lots of chat was had as we appreciated the view down to Loch Venachar, inhaled the coconutty smell of gorse blossom and admired primroses in their full glory. We had to be aware of cyclists with whom we were sharing the path but they were very considerate so it was not a problem.
We covered the 6 miles to Brig O’Turk in just under 3 hours and by that time were very ready for our lunch. The renowned Brig O’Turk Tearoom gave us a warm welcome and showed us to our reserved table where delicious soup, soda bread, sweet and savoury scones and felafel salads, everything homemade, were consumed and washed down with water and coffees.
Pleasantly fortified we set off on our return journey. The walk back involved a bit of uphill and did seem longer than the way there, but we persevered and the good weather, chat and views helped to keep us going. 12 miles in total – well done Dots and lovely to see everyone!

Birnam Hill
Three dots met on the train to Dunkeld and Birnam and had a lovely wee walk around, and then up, Birnam Hill. Well-built paths of mostly gentle gradients, with some steep and almost scrambly bits as we approached the summit.
Great views in all directions across Perthshire, including the mighty River Tay, and even some hills with snow patches to the north. Of course we could identify all of them.... well, possibly Beinn a’ Ghlo - or maybe not. A small flock of wild goats could be seen from our sheltered lunch spot. Big trees, rocky outcrops, and then a fiercely steep path down to Birnam and the Inchewan burn babbling along, but no squirrels, sigh.
A grand and sociable four hours and our legs felt well worked but good. Thanks to my companions for a great day out, till next time!
