Lilidots Lesbian Women's Walking Group |
Who we are
The Lilidots are a Scotland-wide lesbian* walking group. We put on monthly day walks throughout the year and weekend walking trips usually twice a year. Our walks range from Highland mountains to gentler hills and tracks in the Lowlands. The group was founded in the 1980s by lesbian feminists and there are stories to tell about how we got our unique name. We are a friendly group and we welcome new members. If you are a Scotland-based lesbian who genuinely enjoys walking this is the group for you!
We ask for a profile photo that clearly shows your face so that the organiser can recognise you when you join us for walks. There is a £3.00 donation on each walk to help with running costs. We encourage car sharing or use of public transport where possible. We do not allow dogs on our walks unless otherwise stated.
In the latter part of the year we hold a planning meeting, to which all members are invited, where we organise the following year's events. All suggestions are welcome and we encourage and support everyone who wants to get more involved to become an event organiser for a walk or weekend trip.
* Lesbian in this context means same sex attracted biological women. We also welcome bisexual women.

Safety
On our walks everyone is responsible for themselves. Walk organisers will have a good idea of the route to be taken and will give you details of where to meet up, but they are not qualified mountain leaders and are not responsible for the group or your safety. Read the walk description carefully and consider your own fitness level and walking experience before signing up. You'll need walking boots, warm clothing, even in summer, and waterproofs. How to Join
We use 'Spond' to organise and to join our events, and to communicate with each other. Spond is an online app which you will need to download and sign up to prior to requesting to join the Lilidots.

Prior to joining the Lilidots' Spond group you'll be asked to answer a few questions to ensure that you are aware that the Lilidots are a lesbian women's walking group, that you agree to walk with the Lilidots at your own risk and agree to your data being stored, and to provide some information that will help in planning future events.
After answering the questions, you will be sent a link to join the Lilidots Spond group or, if it appears from your answers to the questions that the Lilidots is not the right group for you, you will be advised of this.
Before being accepted into the Spond group, we ask you to provide a profile photo that clearly shows your face, so that the walk organisers can recognise you when you join our walks. Applicants with a photo of more than one person or an unclear face will be declined.
Once approved you'll have access to all information and will be able to join any of our walks.
